Within the framework of the local administration project that the Nation Building Movement has been working on for more than a year with the aim of raising awareness in the local community about the importance of the local administration system and the mechanism for participation in it, in addition to building and empowering the capacities of local councils; hence the movement’s orientation to highlight the elections due to their essential connection to the local administration project, especially after the issuance of Presidential Decree No. 214 of 2018 setting September 16 as the date for holding elections for members of local councils. 
To avoid these elections being like others that came before in terms of the interest of citizens, local communities, political and civil forces in them, there was a need to strengthen the active presence of civil society in these elections and establish a more democratic climate in their management, leading to the production of local council leaderships emanating from local communities and truly representing them.

Hence, the Nation Building Movement launched the “Your Role” campaign as a civil campaign that aims to raise awareness, motivate, and support the role of civil society in local administration.​
