"Barravento" movie
The Cultural Salon of Binaa, as part of the activities of Binaa Cinema, screened the first narrative film "Barravento" or "Volatile Winds" by the great deceased "Glauber Rocha", produced in 1962.
The film chronicles an important phase in the history of Brazilian Cinema Novo, which marked the sixties, and most of its productions were characterized by a clear provocative political discourse that sought to redefine the nature of the colonizer by describing and pursuing the actual foundations of the circles of misery, hunger, and violence prevalent and directed against the majority of the deprived
Cinema Novo is also distinguished by the reuse of contemporary and popular themes in simple and non-exciting ways, and Cinema Novo received much celebration and recognition during its period of activity, until approximately the mid-seventies, in many international cinematic events and forums.
