Where is the Role

Awareness.. Participation.. Supervision

The last 10 years have been filled with Aid work, during which we were able to find our way and find our societal role with the customs and experiences we have stored.
Today, the transition to a new phase, the title of which is the search for recovery and “strengthening the foundations of sustainable development,” imposes new roles, taking society from the role of recipient to the role of actor, initiator, and partner, but the features of this path are still unclear.
The difficulties we are experiencing today, including the siege, sanctions and the stressful economic situation, add major challenges, the impact of which is increased by long years of distancing ourselves from public affairs. Today, we are looking for our societal roles that enhance partnership in the sustainable development process through awareness of the roles that society can play through its institutions and bodies that allow it to participate in planning and implementation, leading to managing the role of oversight as it should be. Therefore, in the series of meetings and dialogue seminars “Where is the role?” we are trying to shed light on these roles by hosting local experts and activists, searching for local experiences and models that can be developed and generalized.
Where is the role? A dialogue series that we are launching in conjunction with the local administration elections, as an attempt to define together our societal roles, their nature, and how to carry them out, with a focus on the local administration environment, which we consider the focus of our attention, as it is a basic entry point to build peace in a country trying to get out from war with minimal losses.
The dialogue is moderated by fellow journalist Nisreen Alaa El-Din, who hosts in each session an expert on one of the issues related to local administration and a civil activist from one of the Syrian localities.
