International Day of Democracy

Citizens who are fortified with awareness, knowledge and active participation in elections are the heartbeat of strong democratic societies. In 2007, the United Nations General Assembly decided to celebrate September 15 as the International Day of Democracy, with the aim of promoting and adhering to the principles of democracy. It called on all member states and organizations to celebrate this day in an appropriate manner that contributes to raising public awareness.
On this day, the Nation Building Movement in Syria aimed, and still aims, for the real participation of Syrians in managing the affairs of their country as partners in building the state, making decisions and developing alternatives to reach a better future.
