Oud Trio Concert

The Oud Trio enlivened a diverse musical evening of playing and singing at the “Ghosn Program” cultural salon in the Nation Building Movement, taking advantage of the Oud’s capabilities in devising dramatic dialogues between the three ouds, using a technique that plays on the flow of melodies and their interruption after short periods of silence, which proves the skill of the three players in controlling the timing of their entry and exit from the components of the pieces.

The three lutes maneuver the roles of division, playing and rhythm, so that the soloist does not fall into a stereotyped playing pattern, so that each player takes on a new role in each new piece.

What is striking is the response and interaction of the audience who attended the evening, despite the high level of technique in playing, which proves that the audience is able to appreciate beauty, even if it is at a high level of mastery.

The solo performance was followed by Arabic and Syrian classical singing, performed by the singer "Marah Hanna" with great feeling, despite her illness and the hoarseness of her beautiful voice.

We must not forget the beautiful guitar playing performed by the flamenco player, "Ahmed Sayyah", with more than one world-famous flamenco piece, and the pleasant atmosphere, which made everyone join in singing and clapping, when he played Halabi Qudud on the guitar, and some light emotional songs.

What makes me confident in what I say: the audience's reactions to what they heard, not by clapping or singing, but by closing their eyes and nodding their heads, traveling with the sweet melodies.

Thanks to those who played and sang and delighted us; and thanks to those who attended, who were the best participants.
