Honoring Mahmoud Hadid

It is the heritage of a country, not the heritage of “Mahmoud Hadid.” This is what the master of Syrian cinema, Mahmoud Rashid Hadid, said when asked about the reason for spending his life preserving and protecting this Syrian cinematic heritage with all his passion and love for this reel, which in his view is the “director of directors.”

Mahmoud Hadid, who was the guest of the Nation Building Movement yesterday in an evening that included a short video presentation with a group of documentaries that introduced us to field master, then we moved on to a dialogue session with him about all this history, archive, memory and cinematic heritage that he carries within him and with his tools, then we concluded our evening with a presentation of films from the archive of the field master of Syrian cinema.

Mahmoud Rashid Hadid is a Syrian cultural icon who deserves all the honor and appreciation for his efforts in preserving the Syrian cinematic heritage. This comes as a continuation of what the Nation Building Movement seeks to shed light on the true symbols of Syrian culture, as it is an important part of our continuous attempts to form a clearer picture of the comprehensive Syrian identity.
