Photo Stories
Literary and social events that address and evoke the Syrian collective memory by displaying images from the history of Syrian society and telling stories built and inspired by them. The Photo Stories event is a parallel project to the Syrian Visual Memory Preservation Project.
This social literary event created an intimate atmosphere that transcended differences by all standards, and left the participants and the audience with their diverse interests a safe and comfortable space to exchange pains, joys, memories, and happy and difficult experiences alike, breaking many barriers and circles of isolation that conflict or ignorance of the other caused.
The audience of these events has expanded significantly and noticeably, attracting ordinary people alongside cultural specialists, those interested in literature, those familiar with history, or those active in documentation and monitoring, so that each event witnesses an interactive atmosphere and a distinctive dialogue colored by the cultures of all the components present, and enhanced by all the events and memories witnessed by the participants and their audience.
