Syrian dialogue platforms

Homs

Today, Thursday, December 22, 2016, the closing session of the first phase of the Syrian Dialogue Platforms Project was launched in the city of Homs under the title “Examining Strategic Options for Syrians.”

The two-day session came after a series of sessions held in Damascus, Sweida and Tartous, to discuss, within in-depth dialogues between a group of public affairs figures, community, political leaders and civil society activists, 4 main pillars: culture, identity and belonging, the form of the state and government, governance, and reconciliation and peace-building.

The session also mainly addressed the historical and current causes of the outbreak of the crisis in Homs, the current reality of the city, in addition to issues of identity, the optimal economic form of the state, corruption issues, the division of administrative units, and the role of culture, education, and democracy in building national reconciliation.

It is worth mentioning that the Syrian Dialogue Platforms Project aims to begin establishing the image of the future Syria in all political, economic and social sectors, through dialogue, study and analysis by specialists, community leaders and civil society forces with their various affiliations and political positions, in order to come up with work programs and gather people on the basis of these programs and positions to defend and develop them instead of gathering them on pre-existing political positions.
