"Nation Building" discusses Syrian scenarios and the civil role

With the participation of a group of experts, researchers and civil activists

On January 11, 2025, the Nation Building Movement held a focused discussion session in its office in Damascus to analyze the current Syrian situation, the expected scenarios in the coming stage, and the role required of civil society.

The discussion addressed the impact of regional and international interests and trends on the future of Syria, in light of a set of political, economic, social and security determinants and external factors and possible reactions to them, which led to five scenarios.

Participants agreed that the most likely scenario is a hybrid scenario that supports a state of “fragile stability” in the short term.
The participants stressed the need for civil society and the private sector in all scenarios as a development carrier for peacebuilding, a safety valve for Syrian society, and to lead the construction of a new Syrian narrative based on a Syrian cultural project.
