The Nation Building Movement works as a Syrian civil activist to activate and consolidate the role of civil society in Syria in general and to support people’s participation in planning, implementing and supervising what is approved to facilitate and manage their life affairs as citizens.

A goal raised by the movement to preserve the role of the citizen and every person belonging to this geography and nation, so that they exercise their role as a partner, target and monitor. Therefore, our project targets the direct role of people in general and the direct role of local administration authorities in particular, as it is the administrative level closest to the people and the most flexible and capable of addressing their issues and dealing with their problems.

The project seeks to bring about positive change, whether through “enacting or amending a law, activating the role of supervision, or shedding light on a specific issue that concerns a segment of society.”

The project is based on advocacy on the values ​of partnership, dialogue, diversity and positivity, and works in cooperation with relevant parties. Its tools are: training, campaign planning, and participation in implementation.​

Project Purposes:

- Spreading awareness of the rights, spaces and work opportunities available to develop community participation in planning and supervising the implementation of the most appropriate decisions to address local issues.

- Monitoring electoral processes related to local administration, their results and violations, and sharing this with citizens.

- Empowering activists and those wishing to participate in public affairs in general and in administrative work at the local level in particular.

- Advocacy to enhance and activate the values ​​of transparency, accountability, follow-up and partnership by all parties, especially between the parties of the most important development triangle (local community - local administration authority - private sector) in a way that ensures the advancement of the local environment at all levels.

- Creating safe spaces for dialogue, communication and interaction between the parties of the development triangle mentioned above, in a way that ensures transparent and extensive discussion of all decisions, draft decisions and strategic visions, in order to reach the most effective approaches to serving and developing society.
